Cosmetic Dentistry

Everyone deserves to be happy with their teeth. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on the appearance of your teeth from concealing small imperfections to a full ‘smile makeover’. Many people are unaware that through advancements in cosmetic dentistry, they can have the kind of smile they have often admired. Using the latest techniques, including teeth whitening, cosmetic bonding, porcelain crowns, tooth-coloured inlays and porcelain laminate facings, we can give you the kind of smile that you have always wanted. The latest techniques are comfortable with long-lasting, natural-looking results that can make a dramatic difference in your appearance.

For minor procedures, cosmetic bonding is a wonderful treatment. We can literally coat the teeth with special materials that allow us to smooth out rough surfaces, change colours, correct chipped teeth, alter contours, replace discoloured fillings or close spaces. The materials used for cosmetic bonding are stronger and last longer than ever before.

Contouring and reshaping

A painless procedure that helps to straighten crooked, chipped, cracked or overlapping teeth, often in combination with bonding or veneers.

Veneers / facings

Veneers are ultra-thin coatings that are bonded onto the front teeth to change the colour or shape of your teeth. There are two forms of veneers - porcelain (constructed in the lab) and composite (sculpted and placed by hand in the surgery). Patients who have broken teeth can take advantage of porcelain laminate facings. This service can literally change your smile in a week or so. This procedure is relatively simple and comfortable and is much less invasive than past techniques.

Onlays, crowns and bridges

Teeth which are damaged can be restored with onlays, crowns and bridges. Massive advancements in material technology in dentistry mean that we can now provide patients with teeth that look, feel and behave exactly like natural teeth. This is normally the dentists decision but you can be involved in selecting the right material for you. When a tooth is damaged, the damaged areas can be removed by the dentist. An impression is taken at this point so that an Australian dental laboratory can manufacture the right restoration for you.

Teeth Whitening

Many of our patients have expressed an interest in having a brighter, more attractive smile. They have been surprised that cosmetic dentistry can make such a dramatic difference in their smile, both comfortably and in only a few appointments. With teeth whitening you can have a brand new smile within just a couple of visits. Many people find whitening to be easy and convenient because most of the treatment can be done at home. Replacing amalgams

Amalgam replacement should be done when the fillings are worn or broken. Another reason to replace amalgam is to achieve preferable aesthetics – many people do not like the appearance of amalgam fillings. However, research has shown that the amount of mercury you are exposed to from your fillings is less than the amount that most people are exposed to in their daily environment or in the food they eat so there is no reason to believe that removing amalgam is necessary for the good of your health and amalgam allergies are extremely rare.

Sometimes orthodontics (in particular Invisalign) can be used to position teeth for maximum cosmetic effect before the above procedures. Click here to learn more about clear braces.
